YESRUD Uganda has signed a partnership agreement with Cure Brain Disease, a 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization based in the United States of America to implement a mental health project in Uganda.
Cure Brain Disease advocates for increased research to discover the biological roots of serious mental health diseases and suicide. They envision the development of effective treatments and cures for serious mental health diseases and suicide.

According to the New Vision publication dated 13th May 2022, over 14 Million Ugandans have mental health disorders. Uganda was also voted among the top six African countries with mental disorders. Based on the 2017 WHO report, the rate of depression disorders was at 4.6% while that of people living with anxiety disorder was at 2.9%. This calls for interventions to curb the escalating mental health crisis in the country.
At YESRUD, we believe in collaborations with like-minded entities to support the UN 2030 agenda on Sustainable Development Goals.
We will be implementing a mental health education project dubbed “Following Daniel’s Lead” named after Daniel Allen, Mary Allen’s son, who passed away while in graduate school studying to become a school psychologist. Daniel was specializing in helping children struggling with emotional challenges and adolescents having thoughts of suicide.
We will engage different stakeholders, such as education institutions, health institutions, cultural leaders, and the local government.
